Abstract

Background: A person who has been diagnosed with hypertension or has a persistent increase in blood pressure should seek treatment immediately to control blood pressure, prevent complications, and reduce or treat signs and symptoms such as headaches. One of the nonpharmacological interventions carried out by nurses to reduce pain is with Benson relaxation Objective: to provide nursing care for the application of Benson relaxation in hypertensive patients with acute pain in the ER at RSUD DR. Sudirman Kebumen Methods: The research method is descriptive with a case study approach. The case study subjects that will be studied are 5 patients. The tools in this study were the nursing care format, Nursing Kit, Benson relaxation SOP and the acute pain symptom assessment format. Presentation of data that the author does by drawing conclusions based on subjective and objective data, which is presented in the documentation method and nursing care resume Results: The results of the assessment carried out on hypertensive patients obtained data that the main complaint felt was acute pain both in the head on a scale of 4-6. The priority nursing diagnosis in hypertensive patients is acute pain associated with physiological injury agents. The nursing interventions carried out were assessing the pain scale, measuring vital signs, giving Benson relaxation, and teaching relaxation distraction techniques to reduce pain. The nursing implementation carried out was to assess the pain scale, measure vital signs, give Benson relaxation, and teach relaxation distraction techniques to reduce pain. The results of the nursing evaluation in hypertensive patients showed that acute pain associated with physiologically injured agents was resolved, indicated by a decrease in the pain scale of 1-2 scales of pain reduction after being given Benson relaxation. Giving Benson relaxation is effective in reducing pain in hypertensive patients. Recommendation: The results of this nursing care become one of the patient’s independent actions that can be done to reduce the pain scale
