Abstract

Background: Stroke is a life-threatening disease, this is because the blood supply to the brain is cut off. In stroke there is impaired nerve function caused by non-traumatic brain hemorrhage which causes symptoms including: numbness/paralysis of the face, arm or leg, especially on one side, difficulty speaking or sudden confusion, difficulty seeing, difficulty walking, loss of balance or coordination and others. About 80% of stroke patients experience weakness on one side of the body / hemiparesis. As a result of a decrease / weakness of muscle strength, namely muscle atrophy, hemiplegia (paralysis), paraplegia and malformations. General purpose: This case study aims to determine the effectiveness of massage and ROM exercises on muscle strength in stroke clients at Hj Anna Lasmanah Hospital Banjarnegara. Method This scientific work uses a descriptive method with a case study approach on 5 stroke patients who experienced a decrease in muscle strength. The nursing care process was carried out for four meetings with the provision of massage therapy and ROM exercises 3 times. Massage therapy is given for 5-15 minutes, and ROM exercises are given for 5-15 minutes with 4 repetitions. The results of nursing care Massage therapy and ROM exercises are effective in increasing muscle strength in stroke patients at Hj Anna Lasmanah Hospital Banjarnegara. Recommendations Massage therapy and ROM exercises can be used to increase muscle strength in stroke patients.
