Abstract

Background: Stroke is a disease that occurs when there is a narrowing of the blood vessels of the brain. The narrowing can make the nervous system stop, the blood and oxygen supply will die and the organs connected to the nervous system will have difficulty moving. A stroke can weaken motor function, resulting in a decrease in muscle strength. Handling stroke must be addressed immediately in order to restore control of body movements. Active motion exercises with ROM and rubber ball handheld therapy are effective exercises for non-hemorrhagic stroke patients. The goal is to stimulate muscle strength to contract, so that motor function can improve or return to normal. Objective: To described nursing care for impaired physical mobility in non-hemorrhagic stroke patients with ROM exercises and rubber ball handheld therapy to increase muscle strength. Method: This type used a descriptive method in the form of a case study approach. Data obtained from the assessment process in the form of interviews and direct observation on 3 respondents who experienced non-hemorrhagic stroke in the form of impaired physical mobility. Nursing care were for 5 days in 10 meetings. The instruments used were vital signs, SOP ROM and handheld rubber balls, muscle strength measurement sheets and rubber balls. Results: Nursing actions were carried out in the form of ROM exercises and gripping rubber balls for 5 days in 10 meetings for the three clients, an increase in extremity muscle strength in non-hemorrhagic stroke. Recommendation: ROM exercises and rubber ball handheld therapy can be used for nonhemorrhagic stroke problems that have impaired physical mobility because there can be an increase in muscle strength.
