Abstract

Background: Problems for maternity include discomfort, fear and pain. This is one of the biggest challenges in labor if not prevented can cause the progress of labor to be prolonged. The level of pain described mostly changes according to the level of fear, stress or anxiety the woman may experience which will therefore have an impact on the entire delivery event. Objective: The purpose of this study was to determine the effect exercise birthball and aroma of lavender to reduce pain in pregnant women during the first phase of labor. Method: The research method used in this research was a case study with an analytical descriptive study approach. The data obsained form of interviews and observations, literature and documentation. Participants in this application were mothers in the first phase of labor with a total of 3 participants. Results: Before the implementation of exercise birthball and lavender aroma, participants experienced severe pain and the rest experienced moderate pain. After the implementation of the exercise birthball and the aroma of lavender, the participants experienced a decrease in the level of pain which was initially severe to moderate and moderate to mild. Conclusion: The application of exercise birthball and lavender aroma for 30 minutes showed a decrease in pain.
