Abstract
Background: menstrual pain during menstruation or dysmenorrhea is a spasm in the lower abdomen. Dysmenorrhea often appears in the 2nd 3rd year after menarche sometimes appears at the first menstruation. Pain is an unpleasant feeling characterized by tissue damage. Management of menstrual pain can be done by pharmacological and nonpharmacological methods. Non-pharmacological methods that can be used such as ginger water compresses. Objective: To analyze nursing care of the effect of ginger water compress on menstrual pain (dismenorea) in adolescent women in Purbowangi village. Methods: This final paper uses a case study approach with descriptive method. The instrument used is an observation sheet with 5 respondents who fit the inclusion criteria, the intervention given refers to SIKI with non-pharmacological therapy of ginger water compresses. Results: Based on the results of the assessment of 5 patients, it was found that the main nursing problem was acute pain. After the nursing treatments of giving ginger water compresses, the results showed a decrease in the level of pain, in patient 1 the pain level was from 6 to 2, patient 2 from 5 to 2, patient 3 from 6 to 5, patient 4 from 5 to 2, and in patient 5 from 4 to 1. Conclusion: There is significant effect of ginger water compress on reducing menstrual pain (dismenorea) in adolescent women. Recommendation: The results of this study can be used as reference for further research and can be applied as an intervention for managing pain in adolescents who experience menstrual pain.
