Abstract

Baground, Asthma is an intermittent obstructive airway disease characterized by the presence of the trachea and bronchi in an overactive response to certain stimuli. Nursing problems that commonly arise in asthmatics include ineffective breathing patterns, airway clearance, hyperthermia, etc. In this case study, the management of asthma related to nonpharmacological therapy for asthmatics who experience ineffective breathing pattern disorders is the application of Diaphragm Breathing Exercise. Purpose, Analyzing the problem of management using asthma patients using ineffective breathing patterns to provide Diaphragm Breathing Exercise intervention in the Emergency Room of PKU Muhammadiyah Gombong Hospital. Method, This study uses a descriptive method by analyzing the action of the Diaphragm Breathing Exercise on ineffective breathing patterns. Results of Nursing Care, the problems in this case study of the five patients were ineffective breathing patterns, the interventions given were: pharmacological therapy as recommended, and non-pharmacological techniques: Diaphragm Breathing Exercise 1x30 minutes for 15 minutes, and monitored respiration before and after the procedure. From the five patients the ineffective breathing pattern experienced a decrease in the number of respirations, before and after the action there was a decrease in the number of respirations with an average decrease of 7x/minute after the entire procedure for 1x30 minutes. Recommendations, The results of this study can be applied to patients with complaints of ineffective breathing patterns in order to make breathing patterns effective in a nonpharmacological way.
