Abstract

Background : Stroke is a neurological damage that appears suddenly, due to impaired blood circulation to the brain, caused by lack of blood flow, or rupture of blood vessels in the brain (Ananda, 2021). WHO in 2018 stated that the prevalence of stroke increased by 13.7 million new cases every year, and stroke is the number 3 cause of disability or disability experienced by the world community. Research Objectives : To analyze nursing care in patients with SNH (Non-Hemorrhagic Stroke), with the application of facial exercise techniques, at PKU Muhammadiyah Gombong Hospital. Methods : This study uses a descriptive method, a case study approach. The sample in this study amounted to 5 patients with Non-Hemorrhagic Stroke and experienced face dropping who had problems with verbal communication disorders. Then given the intervention of facial exercise therapy for 3 days. And an assessment was made using the Ugo Fisch scale observation sheet. Results : Based on the result of the study after being given facial exercise therapy, it was found that there was a change in the patient’s face dropping, but the problem of verbal communication disorders did not improve. Conclusion : The results of this study can be concluded that the administration of facial exercise therapy in patients with SNH (Non-Hemorrhagic Stroke) has no effect on the patient’s communication skills. Recommendation : Further researchers are expected to deepen research on the application of facial exercise in SNH (Non-Hemorrhagic Stroke) patients with verbal communication disorders by increasing the duration of application of the therapy.
