Abstract
Background : Cashew nuts and mango arum manis plants are widely distributed in Indonesia with flavonoids and alkaloids that have potential as antibacterials. Propionibacterium acne is one of the bacteria that causes acne. The combination of cashew leaf extract and arum manis mango leaf extract has potential as an antibacterial. Research Purpose : To determine the combination of ethanol extract of cashew nut leaves and arum manis mango leaves has antibacterial activity on Propionibacterium acnes bacteria. Methods: This research is an experimental study by making 5 comparisons of the ethanol extract of cashew nut leaves and arum manis mango leaves by varying the ratios 1:3, 2:2, 3:1, 4:0, 0:4. The combination of these extracts was tested for antibacterial activity. On Propionibacterium acne by measuring the inhibition zone formed. The antibacterial method used is the paper disk method. Data were analyzed using One Way ANOVA test. Results: The results of the antibacterial test showed that the ethanol extract of cashew nuts and arum manis mango leaves with a ratio of 1:3 had an effect on Propionibacterium acne bacteria with a strong category with an inhibition zone diameter of 10.03 mm. The results of statistical tests showed p = 0.00 <0.05 which stated that there was a significant difference in each treatment group Conclusion: The combination of ethanol extract of cashew nut leaves (Anacardium occidentale L.) and arum sweet mango leaves (Mangifera indica L.) with a ratio of 1:3 has a strong inhibitory effect on the bacteria that causes acne, namely Propionibacterium acne. Recommendation: It is necessary to do further research on other activity tests, especially the combination of cashew leaf extract and arum sweet mango leaf.
