Abstract
Background, insulin is a natural hormone which is produced by the pancreas. Insulin therapy is one of the five high-risk drugs for hospitalized patients. Common errors that usually occur due to limited skills, methods or procedures and knowledge of insulin administration. The role of pharmacists in the success of diabetes mellitus therapy, one of which is to educate the use of insulin to patients suffering from diabetes mellitus, especially in patients who are suffering from diabetes mellitus for the first time. Objective, to evaluate the pharmacists knowledge in providing education of insulin used at PKU Muhammadiyah Gombong and RSUD Prembun Hospital. Recearch Methods, this research is a descriptive non-experimental (observational) study, using a prospective observational method obtained by filling out a questionnaire conducted by pharmacists, at PKU Muhammadiyah Gombong and RSUD Prembun Hospital. Results, the results of this study show that the results of pharmacist knowledge related to insulin use education 21 (81%) pharmacists had good knowledge, 5 (19%) pharmacists had sufficient knowledge. At PKU Muhammadiyah Gombong, which consists of 11 pharmacists, all pharmacists have good knowledge, while at RSUD Prembun Hospital which amounts to 15 pharmacists, there are 10 pharmacists who have good knowledge and 5 pharmacists have sufficient knowledge. Conclusion, the level of knowledge of pharmacists in providing education on the use of insulin from 26 pharmacists who worked at PKU Muhammadiyah Gombong and RSUD Prembun Hospital got 81% results, including in the good category. Recommendations, in the future researchers can improve the quality of research, how the shortcomings that I get can be expanded in criteria or other problems so that it can be even better.
