Background, hypertension is the disease is defined as a rise in blood pressure in settled. Prevalence of hypertension in kabupaten banjarnegara as many as 2.77%. Adherence is an important component in medicine, especially in the long-term treatment of hypertensive diseases. Research Objectives, to determine the level of adherence to the use of antihypertensive drugs and the relationship between patient characteristics and adherence to the use of antihypertensive drugs at the Banjarnegara Islamic Hospital. Research Methods, the design of this research is an observational study with a cross sectional approach. The data collection method was carried out by purposive sampling technique using the MMAS-8 questionnaire, which obtained 80 respondents, the data was analyzed using the Chi-square test to determine the relationship between the characteristics of the respondents and the level of compliance. Research Results, The results of the analysis of the level of compliance of respondents showed 62.5% low compliance, 28.7% moderate compliance, 8.8% high compliance. There is a significant relationship between the level of adherence with comorbidities (p = 0.009), the number of drugs taken (p = 0.000), length of treatment (p = 0.044) and there is no significant relationship between the level of adherence and gender (p = 0.481) , age (p=0,138), education (p=0,389), occupation (p=0,293), income (p=0,437). Conclusion, most of the respondents have a low level of adherence (62.5%), and there is a significant relationship between the level of compliance with comorbidities, the number of drugs taken, and the length of treatment. Recommendations, It is hoped that similar research can be carried out using the interview method to determine the factors that influence compliance.
