Abstract

Background: There are around 1.13 billion people suffering from hypertension in the world (WHO, 2018). One of the symptoms caused is pain in the neck. Progressive Muscle Relaxation (PMR) therapy is one of the non-pharmacological treatments in the treatment of hypertension. Objective: To describe the results of nursing care implementation of Progressive Muscle Relaxation (PMR) in hypertensive patients with acute pain in the HCU room. Methods: This case study uses a descriptive method with a case study approach. The subjects in this study were hypertensive patients with acute pain who were included in the inclusion and exclusion criteria. Nursing Care Outcomes: The results of the assessment of the majority of patients are male (60%) and in the elderly category (40%). The main diagnosis that arises is acute pain. Nursing interventions are taken based on SLKI and SIKI. Nursing implementation in pain management was taken from SLKI Pain Level (L.08066) and SIKI Pain Management (I.08238) and added nursing action innovation, namely Progressive Muscle Relaxation therapy. The evaluation of the five patients in dealing with acute pain was resolved. Conclusion: In this study, PMR therapy was proven to be effective in reducing blood pressure in hypertensive patients with acute pain.
