Abstract
Background: One of the causes of breastfeeding problem is that the milk does not flow out on the first day. So it is necessary for the baby to have other kind of drink. The other problems are that the nipples do not stand out, sore nipples, and swollen breasts. Based on the data in private midwifery clinic of Widi Utami, there were 66 pospartum mothers in January up to December 2015. Most of them had problem in breasfeeding, such as their milk did not flow out well and smoothly. They did not care their breasts, so not all post partum mothers breastfed their babies exclusively. Objective: Providing Mrs. W with a midwifery care by giving her breast care using olive oil for accelerating her breastfeeding on the first day to the third day of post partum.. Method: This scientific paper is a descriptive with a case study approach. The subject wasMrs. W, a 27 year-old pospartum mother. This study was conducted from February 21 up to April 30, 2016. Result: After having a midwifery care by using olive oil, the breast milk of Mrs. W could flow out well. This was indicated by the inceeasing frequency of the breastfeeding, also the defecated bowl and urination. Besides, it was indicated by the length of the baby’s sleep on the first day up to the third day. Conclusion: The midwifery care innovationfor Mrs. W in the form of post partum breast care using olive oil could overcome her problem in accelerating the breast milk outflow.
