Abstract
Background: Pain is an unpleasant emotional feeling and experience due to tissue damage. Rambutan plant (Nephelium lappaceum L.) is a medicinal plant that has benefits in traditional medicine to help relieve and cure various diseases, one of which is pain. Purpose: to determine the analgesic activity of methanol extract and aquadest extract of rambutan leaf (Nephelium lappaceum L.) on wistar white rats induced by pain with acetic acid. Method: This research is an experimental study with the research subjects in the form of 40 white rats. The test animals were divided into 8 treatment groups, namely negative control which was given CMC-Na, positive control was given mefenamic acid, group of methanol extract and aquadest extract at a dose of 150 mg/Kg BW, 300 mg/Kg BW, and 600 mg/Kg BW. The pain inducer given is 1% acetic acid. Observations were made by observing the stretching of the rats to calculate the % pain protection. The data that has been obtained were then tested with One Way ANOVA and Post Hoc LSD statistical tests. Results: Methanol extract and aquadest extract of rambutan leaves (Nephelium lappaceum L.) doses of 150, 300 and 600 mg/Kg BW gave analgesic effect in white rats and significantly (p<0.05) in rats induced by acetic acid. Conclucion: The dose of methanol extract of rambutan leaves (Nephelium lappaceum L.) 600 mg/Kg BW gave the best analgesic effect in white rats and was significant with p<0.05. Compared with aquadest extract of rambutan leaf (Nephelium lappaceum L.). Suggestion : It is necessary to do a toxicity test and further research on the analgesic effect of the methanol extract and aquadest extract of rambutan leaves (Nephelium lappaceum L.) using other methods and with different solvents and with smaller doses also carried out longer observations in order to find out duration of the extract.
