Abstract
Background, Herbal medicine is one of the traditional medicines that are in great demand by the public because of its benefits that can maintain health, endurance and treat disease. Jamugendong does not require a distribution permit, but the quality of the herbal preparations is safe for consumption. One method to determine the quality and safety of the herbal preparations is the Angka Lempeng Total (ALT) and Angka Kapang Khamir (AKK). Purpose, To determine the presence or absence of microbial contamination in the form of bacteria and yeasts in the preparations of herbal medicine carrying rice kencur, tamarind turmeric, ginger and bitters sold at the traditional market of Wonokriyo, Gombong District, Kebumen Regency. Method, This research includes descriptive non-experimental. Samples were taken from four sellers, namely sellers A, B, C and D. The research stages included sampling, sample homogenization, Angka Lempeng Total (ALT) and Angka Kapang Khamir (AKK). The data were then analyzed using the One Way ANOVA test. Result, Showed that the herbs carrying saffron-colored rice, tamarind turmeric, Curcuma and bitters were sold at the traditional market of Wonokriyo, Gombong District, Kebumen Regency by sellers A, B, C, the ALT value that met the requirements was not more than 105 colonies/ml. Meanwhile, the carrying herbal of saffron-colored rice sold by seller D obtained ALT value > 105 so it did not meet the requirements. On the results of the AKK test for jamu gendong of saffron-colored rice, tamarind turmeric, Curcuma and bitters sold at the Wonokriyo traditional market, Gombong District, Kebumen Regency, the AKK value that meets the requirements is not more than 103 colonies/ml. Conclusion, Based on the results of the study showed that there was no significant difference (P>0.05) in the ALT and AKK values from all types of jamu gendong samples from the four sellers.
