Abstract
Background: The nurse would be expected to increase quality service in the hospital by upgrading their education through continuing study and take a part in nursing courses or training. Objective: To determine the factors related to nurses’ motivation toward their studies in PKU Muhammadiyah Hospital. Method: This study was a descriptive quantitative method. Research sampling used a total sampling technique and obtained a total sample of 164 respondents. Result: The results showed that competition, socioeconomic and superior support service were related to nurses' motivation to continue their studies. Conclusion: The competition, socioeconomic and superior support service were related to nurses’ motivation to continue their studies. Recommendation: The hospital has to give nurses a chance to continue their studies and give motivation to them about the importance of continuing study and further research to conduct in-depth interview methods to explore the motivation of nurses.
