Abstract
Background : Growing is the increasing of more complex structure, function and children’s capability, such as sensory and motoric ability, communication, interaction, cognition, socialization, self-indepence, and so on. One of the children’s development factors is parenting environment. Parenting need parents’ role that is very important to monitor their children in order they can grow and develop very well. Objective : This study aims to determine the correlation between the parents’parenting and the development of preschool children at Pertiwi 1 Kindergarten in Purbowangi, Buayan, Kebumen. Method : This study used correlational descriptive study with cross sectional approach. The total samples were 70 parents and their children taken by saturated sampling technique. Data collection used questionnaires. Data were analyzed using Spearman Rank statistical test. Results : The highest percentage of parents’ parenting was democratic consisting of 35 respondents (50.0%). There were 52 children (64.3%) who have had appropriate development. Spearman Rank statistical test showed the significant correlation as indicated by p-value 0.000 (p<0.05). Conclusion : There were correlation between the parents’ parenting and the development of preschool children at Pertiwi 1 Kindergarten in Purbowangi, Buayan, Kebumen.
