Abstract
Background: Correct breastfeeding technique is one of the factors that influence the success of breastfeeding where the correct breastfeeding technique is how to give breast milk to babies with the right steps, positions, observations and attachments so that if the breastfeeding technique is not correct, it will cause problems. Problems such as breast pain, sore nipples and not smooth milk. Objective: To find out the relationship between the level of knowledge about correct breastfeeding techniques and the succes of breastfeeding for primiparous mothers in the work area of the Binangun Health Center. Methods: This study used a correlation analytic desiggn with a cross sectional approach. The sample in this study was primiparous breastfeeding mthers in the workingarea of the Binangun Health Center from June to July 2021, as many as 75 respondents wee taken by random sampling with inclusion criteria and exclusion criteria. Result: The most primipara mothers aged 21-23 years old of 59 (78.7%), their education were Senior High School/ Senior Technical High School as many as 51 respondents (68.0%), worked as housewives as many as 70 (93.3%). Level of knowlwdge about successful breastfeeding techniques with good category as many as 60 respondents (80%). And the success breastfeeding at good category were 58 respondents (77.3%). There is a relationship between the level of knowledge of correct breastfeeding techniques on the successful breastfeeding of primipara mothers with the acquisition of a significant value using the chi-square test showing p-value =0.001 (p<0.005). Conclusion: Theknowledge level of correct breastfeeding techniques is correlated with the successful of breastfeeding of primipara mothers. Recommendation: Future researchers are expected to deepen this research and analyze other factors related to the successful of breastfeeding of primipara and multipara mothers.
