Abstract

Background: Pregnancy is a period that will end with the presence of a baby. Pregnant women experience a lot of anxiety caused by several factors, to reduce anxiety it is necessary to do therapy to reduce anxiety levels, namely classical music therapy. Objective: To determine the effectiveness of classical music therapy on reducing anxiety in the third trimester pregnant women at Kejobong Public Health Center, Purbalingga Regency. Methods: This study is a quasi-experimental research with one group pretest-post test approach. The sample technique used is random sampling of 21 third trimester pregnant women at the Kejobong Public Health Center. Time of data collection was carried out in August for 2 weeks with the provision of classical music therapy intervention for 1 week 3 times consecutively for 10-15 minutes using the HARS instrument (Hamilton Rating Scale for Anxiety) with validity test 0.589 > 0.05, reliability test 0.793 > 0.6 and data analysis using the T-Test test. Results: The results showed that 15 respondents (71.4%) after being given the therapy, the majority of respondents experienced moderate anxiety as many as 11 respondents (52.4%), mild anxiety as many as 10 respondents (47, 6%). Classical music therapy is effective on reducing anxiety of the pregnant women with p value = 0.000 < 0.05. Conclusion: Classical music therapy is effective on reducing anxiety level of the third trimester pregnant women. Recommendation: This therapy may be implemented by nurses at public health center to pregnant women who experience anxiety.
