Abstract

Background: Elderly health is the most important thing as an effort to improve the health status of the elderly. The common degenerative disease in the elderly is hypertension. The elderly who experience hypertension often complain of headache, this will interfere with the ability and function of the body of the elderly. In Indonesia, the prevalence of hypertension in 2013 was 25.8%, while currently it has increased to 34.1% and 37.57% of hypertension cases in Central Java, making Central Java the fourth in Indonesia. Objective: The general purpose of writing this scientific papers is to describe nursing care with warm compress therapy to overcome pain in the elderly with hypertension. Results: The results From the results of the study of the five patients who had hypertension and were diagnosed with chronic pain and then received warm water compress nursing interventions and health education about hypertension for 3 days, the five patients experienced changes. Based on the results of the evaluation, it was proven by changes in the pain scale measured using the Numeric Rating Scale (NRS) between before and after being given therapy for 3 meetings. All five patients experienced a decrease in pain levels. Conclusion: Provision of warm compress therapy can reduce pain in elderly patients with hypertension. Recommendation: Administration of tandem walking exercise therapy with balance exercise can reduce the risk of falls in elderly patients.
