Abstract

Background: Hypertension still occupies the largest proportion of all PTM and is a silent killer with 70 percent of deaths in the world. People in Indonesia with the age of 18 years will experience an increase in the rate of hypertension to 34.1% from only 25.8%. Hypertension that is not treated immediately can lead to complications such as stroke, heart, kidney, etc. Therefore, an effort is needed to improve control compliance in hypertension patients by following the current digital era with Whatsapp media with the FGD method. Objective: To analyze the influence of smartphones on the level of outpatient control compliance at the Palang Biru Kutoarjo Hospital. Methods: This study used a Quasi Experimental method, with a pretest-posttest research design with control group design. A sample of 32 outpatient hypertension patients was divided into 16 respondents in the treatment group and 16 respondents in the control group. Sampling with Consecutive sampling technique. Results: before being given health education through smartphones, most of them had hypertension control compliance 2 times or 31.2%), and after being given health education most had hypertension control compliance 4 times (31.2%). In the control group before being given leaflate, most of them had hypertension control adherence 2 times or and 0 times a number of each (25%). After being given Health Education with leaflet media, hypertension control compliance was still with an adherence score of 2 (31.2%). Conclusion: There is an effect of smartphones on the level of outpatient control compliance at the Palang Biru Kutoarjo Hospital with a p value of 0.000. Suggestion: This research is recommended for hospitals to make Health Education through WA with FGD a SOP to improve services for hypertension patients.
