Abstract

Background: The World Health Organization (WHO) estimates that there are 10 per 1000 live births of women who experience mild postnatal depression and moderate or severe postpartum depression ranging from 30 to 20 per 1000 live births. Postpartum hormonal changes are suspected to be related to depressive symptoms and biological factors that can explain the occurrence of postpartum depression. Other factors that cause postpartum depression are biological, psychological, sociodemographic factors (age, education, occupation and type of delivery), obstetric factors or factors during delivery that include the duration of delivery, the type of delivery, and medical intervention Objectives: To find out the relationship of the type of delivery to the risk of postpartum depression at PKU Muhammadiyah Gombong Hospital Method: This study uses quantitativeresearch with a cross sectional design. The sample size in this study was 111 respondents using a purposive sampling. In analyzing data bivariately, data testing was carried out using the Chi-square test with a significant level of 95%, Result:. Chi Square Test results obtained p-value values of 0.001< 0.05. Thus, it can be concluded that H0 dit olak and Ha diterima which means that there is a relationship of Childbirth Type to the Risk of Postpartum Depression di PKU Muhammadiyah Gombong Hospital Conclusion: There is a relationship between the type of childbirth and the risk of postpartum depression di PKU Muhammadiyah Gombong Hospital.
