Abstract

Background, the use of sabrang teak leaves (Peronema canescens Jack) as a medicine in the form of extract capsules requires special processing by granulation method. The optimal granule is made by varying the concentration of absorbents and binders using the help of expert design software. Drug preparations must meet quality requirements because they can affect the therapeutic effect of drugs, so physical quality tests are carried out on granules and capsule preparations. Research Objective, making capsule preparations from sabrang teak leaf ethanol extract (Paronema canescens Jack) using the simplex lattice design method in making granules with variations of aerosyl adsorbents and PVP binders and conducting physical evaluation of capsule preparations and dissolution profiles. Research Method, this research is an experimental research by making granule formulations with variations in the concentration of aerosyl adsorbents and PVP binders using the Simplex Lattice Design method then evaluating flow time, rest angle, and compressibility in granule preparations, T-Test tests to determine the accuracy of dx.13 software predictions with the results of the granule evaluation carried out, and evaluating weight uniformity, crushing time, and dissolution on capsule preparations. Research results, the use of aerosyl adsorbents with a concentration of 1.75% and PVP binder of 4.25% can produce optimal granules and meet the physical quality requirements of flow time, rest angle, compressibility and T-Test test results show a p-value of > 0.05. Results The formula meets the physical quality requirements of weight uniformity, crush time, and dissolution > 80%. Conclusion, the concentration of aerosil adsorbent 1.75% and PVP binding material 4.25% can produce optimal granule preparations using the Simplex Lattice Design method, and produce granules and capsules that meet the physical quality requirements of the preparation. Recomendations, researchers are then expected to optimize with variations in ingredients and dosage forms that are different from this study and standardize extracts and antioxidant tests.
