Abstract
Background: cancer is one of the biggest causes of death in the world. There are some types of dangerous cancer and one of which is cervical cancer. It is a scary disease threat for women. Chemotherapy is one of the medications for cervical cancer and is a control way to prevent the development of the cancer to be getting bigger and to lessen the pain. Most of patients with cervical cancer undergo chemotherapy so it is estimated that around 60% of cervical cancer sufferers experience physical changes. Objective: to find out the overview of self concept of patients undergoing chemotherapy for cervical cancer medical diagnosis. Research Methods:this is a non-experimenatal study that used observational descriptive method and cross sectional approach. The samples consisted of 39 respondents. Results : the findings show that the patients had positive self concepts that include 84% for self image, 80.8% self ideal, 92.3% for self-esteem, 84.6% for role and 88.5% for identity Conclusion : cervical cancer patients had postive self concept. Recomendation : it is recomended for the nurses to optimize their role in giving nursing care for the cervical cancer patients, for the education to give more knowledge about self concept of cervical cancer patients, for the hospitals to give more infomation and suggestion for the cervical cancer patients who undergo chemotherapy, for the respondents to understand and to add knowledge about the cervical cancer.
