Abstract
Background: Chronic renal failure is a non communicable disease which is increasing annually. Hypertension is one of the problems founded in chronic renal failure patients. It is one of the primary causes of chronic renal failure. Likewise the chronic renal failure could be the cause of hypertension. Hypertension therapies are pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic therapy. Listening to murottal al-qur’an is one of the non-pharmacologic therapies. Objective: To determine the effect of murottal al-qur’an therapy on decreasing blood pressure of chronic renal failure patients with hypertension at Dr. Soedirman State Hospital Of Kebumen. Methods: The present study is quasy experimental research with control group pretest-posttest design. The samples were 50 respondents divided into 25 respondents as experimental group and 25 as control group taken by purposive sampling technique. Statistic test used non parametric tests i.e. Wilcoxon and Mann-Whitney Test. Results : Wilcoxon statistic test on experimental group showed p-values both systole and diastole 0,015 and 0,011 (P<0,05) respectively meaning that there was significant effect of murottal al-qur’an therapy on decreasing blood pressure of chronic renal failure patients with hypertension. Meanwhile on control group showed p-values both systole and diastole 0,158 and 0,989 (P>0,05) respectively meaning that there was no significant effect on decreasing blood pressure after being given the therapy. Mann-Whitney test showed p-values both systole and diastole 0,041 and 0,017 (P<0,05) respectively meaning that there was significant difference between experimental and control group after being given the therapy. Conclusion: There was significant effect of murottal al-qur’an therapy on decreasing blood pressure of chronic renal failure patients with hypertension at Dr. Soedirman State Hospital Of Kebumen.
