The impact of thalassemia on the dimensions of children's school performance because they often do not attend school due to experiencing physical complaints, resulting in a decrease in learning achievement. Objective: To determine the relationship between the frequency of blood transfusions and the school performance of children with thalassemia in the Melati Room of Dr. Soedirman Kebumen Regional Hospital. Methods: This research is a quantitative correlation with a cross-sectional approach. The sample for all thalassemia patients in June-August 2022 was 40 pediatric patients who were selected using the total sampling technique. Bivariate analysis using chi square. Results: The majority of children with thalassemia are aged 15-18 years, the male and female sexes are balanced and have junior high school education status. Most of the frequency of blood transfusions is less than 4 times in 2 months with a total of 33 respondents (82.5%). The performance of children with thalassemia is mostly in the sufficient category, 23 respondents (57.5%). Conclusion: There is a relationship between the frequency of blood transfusions and the school performance of children with thalassemia in the Melati Room of Dr. Soedirman Kebumen Regional Hospital with a value of p or Sig. (2-tailed) of 0.015 which means ρ <0.05. Recommendation: Nurses are advised to pay more attention to the frequency of blood transfusions given and to motivate children to be enthusiastic about learning.
