Abstract

Background: Diabetes Mellitus is a metabolic disease caused by the pancreas not producing enough insulin. This disease can be called a chronic disease because it can occur chronically. Based on the cause, Diabetes Mellitus is classified into three types, namely type 1 diabetes, type 2 diabetes, and gestational diabetes. Diabetes Mellitus can cause acute and chronic complications. Erectile dysfunction (impotency) is one of the complications of Diabetes Mellitus. Objective: This study aims to determine the factors that influence the occurrence of impotence in Diabetes Mellitus patients at RSI Banjarnegara. Method: The research method used is analytic observational design cross sectional, the number of samples 38 with the technique total sampling. Researchers used a research instrument in the form of a questionnaire Diabetic Neuropathy Symptom Indonesian version (DNS-Ina), questionnaire Diabetes Distress Scala (DDS), STOP- BANG questionnaire, questionnaire Five-item Version of the Internasional Indeks of Erectile Function (IIEF-5), examination of blood pressure and blood glucose levels while. Data analysis using correlation test Chi-Square. Results: The results showed that there was a relationship between neuropathy, high blood pressure, stress levels, high blood sugar levels, Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA) with the occurrence of impotence in patients with Diabetes Mellitus (p value 0,015; 0,002; 0,009; 0,044; 0,048). Conclusion: Decreased quality of life is faster in impotence patients with Diabetes Mellitus. It is hoped that nurses and families will provide more attention and support to Diabetes Mellitus patients who experience impotence.
