Abstract
Background, Someone who is old, his health condition will decrease either naturally or caused by disease. Older people have a greater risk of receiving mental disorders than younger age groups, especially regarding depression. Support from the family is needed by the elderly to deal with conditions and various changes in the phases of their life. Objective,To knowdescriptiondepression and family support for the elderly in the work area of the Wanadadi 1 Health Center, Banjarnegara. Method: This study uses a quantitative descriptive method. The population in this study were elderly who were active in posyandu in the working area of the Wanadadi 1 Banjarnegara Public Health Center with a total of 250 elderly. The sample method uses proportional random sampling, while the number of samples is 154 people. The research instrument used the GDS questionnaire which had been tested for the validity and reliability of Cronbach's alpha 0.755 and the Cronbach's alpha 0.9 family support questionnaire. Filling out the questionnaire took ±30 minutes and the research was conducted for six months. The results, the results of the study showed that age characteristics were obtained at most in the range of 55-64 years, 65 (42.2%) and above 65 years, 65 (42.2%). The sex of the majority is female, 93 (60.4%), education level at most with TS/SD is 60 (39%), economic level is in the good category with an average monthly income above Rp. 1,000,000, - a total of 78 (50.6%), The majority married status with married number 130 (84.4%), The majority living status with a partner numbered 128 (83.1%), with the GDS questionnaire most elderly depression with mild 86 (55.8%), and most family support questionnaires with sufficient 105 (68.2%) Conclusion, the results of the study found that the majority of the elderly experienced mild depression and adequate family support. Recommendations, it is necessary to increase family support emotionally, informationally, instrumentally and rewarded to be better.
