Abstract
Background: According to WHO's 2018 report, the population of the elderly in the ASEAN region was 124 million people, which accounted for approximately 8% of the total population. In 2015, it was found that there were approximately 1.13 million cases of hypertension worldwide. One of the preventive measures is Foot Soaking Hydrotherapy, which aims to reduce hypertension in the elderly. Scientifically, warm water has physiological effects on the body, particularly on the vascular system. The warmth of the water can enhance circulation, ensure consistent blood flow, and improve heart activity by exerting pressure on the muscles. These factors can have an impact on the body's ligaments and overall well-being. Objective: To describe family nursing care for elderly individuals with hypertension using Foot Soaking Hydrotherapy. Research Method: This study employed descriptive methods and a case study approach. The participants consisted of three families with elderly individuals suffering from hypertension. The Foot Soaking Hydrotherapy sessions were conducted three times during the study, with measurements of blood pressure taken before and after each session. Results of the Case Study: After the completion of the three Foot Soaking Hydrotherapy sessions, a notable reduction in blood pressure was observed. All three respondents experienced a decrease in systolic blood pressure, with an average reduction of 12.2 mmHg. Additionally, the average reduction in diastolic blood pressure was 10 mmHg. Conclusion: Foot Soaking Hydrotherapy has proven effective in reducing blood pressure and can be implemented as a treatment option for families with members suffering from hypertension.
