Abstract
Background : Preliminary study done in 10 students at State Primary School 1 of Tamanwinangun, Kebumen showed that there were 7 students (70%) suffering from dental caries. Interview of the 7 students suffering from dental caries gave information that most of them did not have good brushing teeth behavior. Objective : To determine correlation between brushing teeth behavior and the incidence of dental caries of 6-12 years old children at State Primary School 1 of Tamanwinangun, Kebumen in 2016. Methods: The present study was a survey research using cross sectional approach by descriptive correlational design. The respondents were 63 students taken by stratified proportionate random sampling technique. Data were analyzed by Kendall's Tau formula. Results: Brushing teeth behavior of 6-12 years old children was at less category (44,44%). Most of children had dental caries at mediocre category (39,68%). There was significant correlation between brushing teeth behavior and the incidence of dental caries of 6-12 years old children at State Primary School 1 of Tamanwinangun, Kebumen in 2016 indicated by p-value 0,001 (<0.05). Conclusion : There is correlation between brushing teeth behavior and the incidence of dental caries of 6-12 years old children at State Primary School 1 of Tamanwinangun, Kebumen in 2016
