Abstract
Background: According to WHO records, diarrhea kills two million children in the world every year, while in Indonesia almost one third of child mortality is caused by diarrheal disease. School-age children are more exposed to street food and are often interested in street food because the snacks have attractive colors, appetizing tastes and affordable prices. Many street food sellers do not pay attention to the hygiene and safety of the food they sell, so they are at risk of being contaminated with bacteria and can cause diarrhea. Objective: To find out children's knowledge about snack comprewere with the incidence of diarrhea in students of SD N 3 Gombong. Research Methods: This study used a quantitative design with a correlation design technique with a cross sectional approach. The number of samples in this study to 57 student respondents who were taken by consecutive sampling. The instrument used is a questionnaire with a statistical test using the kai square test (Chi-Square). Results: In this study, the number of sample data obtained showed that the majority of respondents were at the age of 11, with 23 (40.4%) respondents. The class level of the majority of respondents in class 4 was 26 (45.6%). The gender was more male compared to the number of female respondents as many as 33 (57.9%). Conclusion: There is a relationship between children's knowledge about snack consumption behavior and the incidence of diarrhea (p-value) = 0.048. Recommendation: For future researchers needs to add insight into knowledge about selecting healthy and safe snacks for consumption by students.
