Abstract

Background: Stroke is a disease that leaves an impact in the form of disability. It is estimated that one-third of stroke sufferers in the world experience permanent disability. Rehabilitation must be started as early as possible, quickly, and precisely, in stroke patients so that it can help a faster and optimal physical recovery. One of the rehabilitations that can be given to stroke patients is range of motion exercises, commonly called the Cylindrical Grip Range of Motion (ROM). ROM affects the limbs by preventing the muscles from shortening (contracular) and deforming. Purpose: Giving nursing care to stroke patients with nursing problems of physical mobility disorders and giving ROM cylindrical grip in the Kemuning Room at Prof. Dr. Margono Soekarjo Hospital of Purwokerto. Results: The results of the study showed that five respondents who had stroke disease experienced decreased muscle strength in the upper and lower extremities and impaired physical mobility. The nursing intervention that was carried out was the provision of a ROM cylindrical grip. After being implemented for three days, it was found that the Range of Motion Cylindrical Grip therapy was very effective in increasing the strength of the upper extremity muscles in stroke patients. Recommendation: It is hoped to nurse when take care stroke patients with impaired physical mobility nursing problems to give ROM cylindrical grip as non-pharmacological therapy.
