Abstract

Background: Basic immunization in infants was supposed to be given to children according to their age. However, under certain conditions, some babies did not receive complete basic immunizations due to the lack of maternal compliance with immunization recommendations. Maternal compliance in giving immunization to their babies was very important. Many mothers did not understand the importance of immunization in protecting babies from dangerous diseases. Mothers thought that immunization was unnecessary or unimportant, even though immunization was the most effective way to protect babies from dangerous diseases, such as measles, rubella, and polio. Objective: Determining the relationship between the level of maternal knowledge about basic immunization and compliance with basic immunization in infants at Gombong I Health Center. Methods: The research method was correlational with a cross-sectional approach. The population included a total of 135 baby's mothers. This study involved 63 samples of infant mothers selected through Cluster Random Sampling. The instruments used were questionnaires and Maternal and Child Health Books (KIA). Data were analyzed both descriptively and using the Kendal Tau Correlation test for correlation. Results: The baby's mothers had a sufficient knowledge about immunization (44.1%). Baby's mothers provided basic immunization to compliant category babies (84.7%). There was a relationship between the level of maternal knowledge about basic immunization and compliance with basic immunization in infants at Gombong I Health Center (p = 0.005). Conclusion: The better the mothers' knowledge about basic immunization, the more likely they were to be compliant in providing basic immunization to infants. Recommendation: Future researchers are encouraged to conduct further and more in-depth research on other factors related to the completeness of basic immunization, such as the role of posyandu cadres and trust, in order to obtain improved research results.
