Abstract

Background: Typhoid fever is an acute infectious disease of the digestive system caused by the bacterium Salmonella typhi. The large use of antibiotics that are not in accordance with the guidelines results in resistance to the use of antibiotics. WHO recommends evaluating the use of antibiotics quantitatively using the ATC/DDD method and DU 90%. Research Objective: To determine the use of antibiotics in adult typhoid fever patients at Prembun Kebumen Hospital with the ATC / DDD and DU 90% methods for the period 2022. Research Methods: This type of research is non-experimental with retrospective data collection. Antibiotic use data were analyzed using ATC/DDD and DU 90% methods. The sampling method uses total sampling which is using all inclusion data at Prembun Kebumen Hospital. Research Results: The highest quantitative evaluation value of DDD/100 patientdays was Ceftriaxone at 65.45 DDD/100 patient-days and the lowest was Ciprofloxacin at 2.52 DDD/100 patient-days. The total number of antibiotics used was 78.37 DDD/100 patients-days. The use of antibiotics included in the DU segment is 90%, namely Ceftriaxone (83.62%). While antibiotics that fall into the 10% segment are Cefotaxime (5.28%), Cefixime (7.98%) and Ciprofloxacin (3.21%). Conclusion: From the data obtained, it is concluded that the DDD / 100 patientdays value and the highest DU 90% value are Ceftriaxone. This results in ceftriaxone at Prembun Kebumen Hospital has the potential to cause resistance, therefore it is necessary to evaluate the use of antibiotics every year to prevent antibiotic resistance Recommendation: Further research needs to be carried out using qualitative methods or the Gyssens method.
