Abstract
Background: Dementia is one of the most common degenerative diseases in the elderly. A person experiencing dementia will deny basic truths and will act freely towards others. This causes caregivers who provide assistance to be at risk for physical and mental health problems. If this continues, it will lead to depression, anxiety and physical symptoms. Objective: Finding out the description of work stress of Indonesia nurses IJ-EPA program caring for elderly with dementia in Chuugoku Japan. Methods: The research design uses quantitative descriptive. The samples were 60 people taken by probability sampling using the simple random sampling method. The instrument used was the Generic Job Stress Questionnaire, a standardized instrument used to measure job stress published by NIOSH and has been translated into Indonesian. Analysis of the data used is univariate analysis. Results: Most respondents (87%) were in the age category of 26-35 years, with a total of 60 respondents. The majority of respondents are graduates of the Diploma Nursing education program and have worked for more than 3 years. Indonesian nurses in the IJ-EPA program who experienced work stress were 31 people or 51.7%. Conclusions: The majority of Indonesian nurses IJ-EPA program caring for elderly with dementia in Chuugoku Japan experience work stress. Recommendation: Nurses are required to implement effective stress management through various strategies such as enjoyable time management, creative problem solving and relaxation techniques.
