Abstract

Background: Playing online games has become one of our daily routines. Apart from attractively designed game graphics, online games can also be addicting to their users, especially teenagers. Playing with high intensity proves that playing online games can create the infrastructure to generate pleasure. The higher the player's motivation to play online games, the more addictive behavior will occur. Addiction is an unhealthy, self-destructive behavior that is persistent and difficult for the person to stop. When online players stop playing, it causes feelings of discomfort (withdrawal), stress, anxiety and depression, and when online game players return to play, by increasing the intensity of the game. Objective: The general objective of this study is to identify the relationship between playing online games and stress levels in adolescents in Karangduwur Village, Ayah District Methods: This study uses a quantitative method with a correlational design with a cross sectional approach. The sample in this study amounted to 70 teenagers and was taken using the snowball sampling technique. The instrument in this study used a questionnaire on the frequency of playing online games and DASS. The analysis used is the Spearman Rank Test. Results: Frequency of playing online games category (moderate), (46.8%), and stress level category (normal) (45.7%). Correlation test results show that the significance value between the two variables is 0.000 (sig < 0.05). Conclusion: Here is a significant relationship between playing online games and stress levels in adolescents in Karangduwur Village, Ayah District Recommendation: Further research is expected to conduct qualitative studies on playing online games with stress levels, especially parents
