Abstract

Background: Free radicals have a bad impact on humans. Compounds that can counteract free radicals are antioxidants. Antioxidants contained in kenitu leaves and soursop leaves can counteract free radicals. The combination of one or more plants makes it possible to produce better antioxidants. Research purposes: Knowing the antioxidant activity and knowing the IC50 value of the combination of kenitu and soursop leaves ethanol extracts. Research methods: This study began with phytochemical testing with test tubes and TLC. Antioxidant activity test was carried out using the DPPH test method. The comparison compounds used were vitamin C with concentration series of 2,4,6, 8, and 10 ppm, single extracts and combinations of ratios (1:1), (1:2), (2:1) were made in concentration series of 40, 50, 60, 70 and 80 ppm. The data obtained is presented in IC50 values. Research result: Test-tube results showed that both extracts contained flavonoids, phenols, tannins, and saponins only contained kenitu extract, while the TLC test showed that both extracts contained flavonoids. The results of testing the antioxidant activity of vitamin C, single extract of kenitu and soursop leaves, combined ratios (1:1), (1:2) and (2:1) respectively 0.00012 ; 44.1; 33.1 ; 18.45 ; 11.11; 18.18 ppm with very strong category. Conclusion: The antioxidant activity of the combination of kenitu leaves ethanol extract and soursop leaves ratio (1:2) has the best antioxidant activity with an IC50 value of 11.11 ppm. Suggestion: Continuing research on combinations of kenitu and soursop leaves extracts using the CUPRAC, ORAC, ABTS, FRAP test methods, and continuing the development of pharmaceutical preparation tests.
