Abstract
Background: Degenerative diseases, including hypertension, are prevalent in many societies. Hypertension is the most common cardiovascular disorder, characterized by persistently elevated blood pressure levels. This condition puts strain on the heart as it struggles to pump blood effectively through constricted blood vessels. Objective: To explore the relationship between patients' knowledge about hypertension and lifestyle in Bumirejo Village. Method: This study was a quantitative design with a correlational descriptive method and a cross-sectional approach. The total sampling technique was used, and 31 participants joined. Data collection used a hypertension knowledge questionnaire consisting of 15 questions and a lifestyle questionnaire comprising 17 questions. Result: The study revealed that 16 individuals (51.6%) had good knowledge about hypertension, with 12 people (38.7%) exhibiting a healthy lifestyle and 4 people (12.9%) having an adequate lifestyle. Additionally, 15 individuals (48.4%) have satisfactory knowledge about hypertension, with a corresponding 15 individuals (48.4%) maintaining a satisfactory lifestyle. Conclusion: Hypertension patients in Bumirejo Village had good knowledge about hypertension and healthy lifestyles. The statistical analysis indicated a significant relationship between hypertension knowledge and lifestyle modifications, as evidenced by the p-value (0.00) being less than 0.05. Recommendation: Further research in this area could explore additional variables and contribute to enhancing the management of hypertension.
