Abstract
Background: Five Moments Hand Hygiene is an early step in preventing Hospital Acquired Infections (HAIs), influenced by factors such as knowledge and motivation. Good knowledge and strong motivation are essential in reducing infection transmission through hand hygiene and ensuring compliance with the Five Moments Hand Hygiene protocol. Objective: This research aimed to identify the relationship between nurses' knowledge and motivation and their compliance with the Five Moments Hand Hygiene protocol at the General Hospital (RSUD) dr. Soedirman Kebumen. Method: The research employed an analytical study design with a cross-sectional approach. Sampling was done using purposive sampling. Primary data were collected through questionnaires and observations. The sample consisted of 40 respondents and was conducted in the Inpatient Ward at the General Hospital (RSUD) dr. Soedirman Kebumen from February 13, 2023, to March 13, 2023. Results: Statistical analysis was performed using the Spearman rho correlation test with a significance level (α) of ≤0.05. Conclusion: The study found no significant relationship between nurses' knowledge and compliance with the Five Moments Hand Hygiene (Ƥ = 0.402). However, it revealed a significant relationship between nurses' motivation and compliance with the Five Moments Hand Hygiene (Ƥ = 0.001) at the General Hospital (RSUD) dr. Soedirman Kebumen.
