Abstract
Background: Treatment of pulmonary tuberculosis is carried out gradually and regularly, including intensive and advanced stages of tuberculosis treatment. The impact of TBC disease can cause threats and suppress the lives of patients, causing anxiety. One of the factors that can influence a person when facing problems, especially health problems is family support, this is also a strategy in preventing anxiety. Objective: To determine the correlation between family support and anxiety in TB patients in Sempor District. Methods: The research method is correlational with a cross-sectional approach. The population in this study were 80 TBC patients. The sample used was 80 patients who were taken by total sampling. The instruments used were a family support questionnaire adopted from previous research and a valid and reliable Depression, Axiety and Stress Scales (DASS-42) questionnaire. Data were analyzed univariately (descriptively) and correlatively using the Kendal Tau Correlation test. Results: TBC patients get sufficient family support (50.0%). TBC patients experience moderate anxiety (40.0%). There is a correlation between family support and anxiety in TBC patients in Sempor District (P=0.001). The better the family support received by TBC patients, the lighter the anxiety. Conclusion: There is a relationship between family support and anxiety in TBC patients. The better the family support that TBC patients receive, the lighter their anxiety.
