Abstract
Background: Tuberculosis is a direct infectious disease caused by tuberculosis germs. To achieve maximum recovery, patient compliance in taking the drug is required during the initial period of 6 months. The existence of family support is expected to be able to support the compliance of tuberculosis patients in completing their treatment. Purpose: To determine compliance and family support for the successful therapy of pulmonary tuberculosis patients in the Kalibening Health Center area. Methods: This study used the analytic correlation method in a cross sectional approach. The population in this study were all 351 tuberculosis sufferers. The sample with the purposive sampling method was 187 respondents. Results: Obtained the most age characteristics with late adolescents amounting to 49 (26.2%), Gender is dominated by women numbering 102 (54.5%) for work the majority work 110 (58.8%) while for education most with education SMP is 55 (29.4%). 114 (61%) found good family support and 73 (39%) poor support. Compliance with therapy was found to be high adherence of 85 (45.5%), moderate compliance of 21 (11.2%) and low adherence of 81 (43.3%). The success of the majority of therapy was incomplete, 102 (54.5%). Family support and patient adherence to the success of therapy obtained a p-value of 0.000 Conclusion: There is a relationship between family support and adherence to the successful therapy of pulmonary tuberculosis patients.
