Abstract
Background: Acute pain is one of the nursing problems that is often experienced by hypertensive patients. Acute pain can be caused by various factors, such as uncontrolled hypertension, complications of hypertension, or medical procedures. Acute pain can interfere with the patient's comfort and quality of life, and slow down the healing process. Objective: To provide nursing care to hypertensive patients with acute pain at PKU Muhammadiyah Gombong Hospital Method: This research uses a descriptive method with a case study approach. The subjects of this study were 5 hypertensive patients with acute pain at PKU Muhammadiyah Gombong Hospital. The research instrument is a nursing care format, Nursing Kit, and SOP for slow deep breathing action innovation. Results: The results of the study carried out on hypertensive patients showed that the main complaint was acute pain in both the head and neck. The priority nursing diagnosis for hypertensive patients is acute pain related to disease (Hypertension). The nursing intervention carried out is assessing the pain scale, measuring vital signs, giving Slow Deep Breathing to reduce pain. The nursing implementation carried out was assessing the pain scale, measuring vital signs, giving Slow Deep Breathing to reduce pain. Based on the results of the innovation of slow deep breathing in hypertensive patients with acute pain, it is known that Patient I experienced a 3 scale decrease in pain and a 40 mmHg decrease in systole. Patient II experienced a 3 scale decrease in pain and a 50 mmHg decrease in systole. Patient III experienced a 2 scale decrease in pain and a 50 mmHg decrease in systole. Patient IV experienced a 3 scale decrease in pain and a 48 mmHg decrease in systole. Patient IV experienced a 3 scale decrease in pain and a 50 mmHg decrease in systole. Giving a combination of Slow Deep Breathing is effective in reducing pain and blood pressure in hypertensive patients. Conclusion: The innovation of slow deep breathing can be an alternative nonpharmacological therapy to reduce acute pain in hypertensive patients. Recommendation: It is recommended to create a standard SOP for slow deep breathing action innovation so that it can be implemented consistently and in a standardized manner.
