Abstract

Background: LBW can experience respiratory problems as a result of inadequate pulmonary surfactant deficiency. LBW requires supplemental oxygen and ventilation assistance. Babies with or without supportive care are positioned to maximize oxygenation, one of which is the prone position. Objective: Applying prone positioning to low birth weight babies with ineffective breathing patterns at Dr Soedirman General Hospital, Kebumen Method: The research method is a case report. The subjects of this study were 5 LBW people who were given the prone position for 3 days. Respiratory status was measured before and after the action including RR, RD, and SPO2. Results: The results of the study showed that the patient had complaints of shortness of breath with a RR of 62 71x/minute. The priority nursing diagnosis in LBW patients is Ineffective Breathing Pattern. Intervention and implementation of nursing carried out, namely monitoring respiration and pronation position. The results of the evaluation of nursing in LBW patients, the problem of nursing ineffective breathing patterns is resolved with indications of a decrease in Respiratory rate (RR) 20-37 x/minute, a decrease in chest retraction and an increase in SpO2 3-10%. Conclusion: Innovations in the application of innovations in the act of giving the prone position can dealing with ineffective breathing patterns by decreasing the Respiratory rate (RR) 20-37 x/minute, decreasing chest retraction and increasing SpO2 3-10%.
