Abstract
Background: Health Care Associated Infections (HAIs) are infections that are acquired and develop while patients are hospitalized and have become a health problem in various countries around the world. Hand washing or hand hygiene is one of the most important practices to prevent the transmission of microorganisms from nurses to patients. Infections acquired in hospitals can occur indirectly or physically or through direct contact from staff to patients Objective: The aim of this research is to determine the related of nurses' compliance with hand washing practices at PKU Muhammadiyah Petanahan Hospital. Method: The type of research used in this research is observational analytic, which seeks to find relationships between variables. The sampling method in this research was total sampling Results: There is an influence on nurses' compliance with hand washing practices at PKU Muhammadiyah Petanahan Hospital Conclusion: There is an influence of age, educational factors, knowledge factors, length of service factors, marital status factors on nurses' compliance with hand washing practices and there is no influence of gender on nurses' compliance with hand washing practices. Suggestion: For nurses to identify the implementation of the principles of 5 moments 6 steps when washing hands properly in order to control nosocomial infections
