Abstract

Background: LBW (Low Birth Weight) babies require special care to stabilize the condition, because LBW babies have organs that are not perfect so they cannot regulate their bodies properly. Mothers will be stressed and anxious about their baby's condition, the occurrence of stress in mothers is triggered by many factors such as age, family support, income, baby's condition, and baby's birth weight. Nurses need to know this, because the mother is a success factor in the care of LBW babies. Objective: To find out the factors associated with the stress of mothers who have low birth weight babies in the intensive care unit of Wonosobo Regional Hospital. Methods : The study used descriptive analytical design with cross-sectional approach. The sample of this study were mothers who had low birth weight babies totaling 52 people with consecutive sampling technique. Factors studied included maternal age, income, family support, baby's condition, and baby's birth weight. Data were collected using demographic questionnaire, MSPSS questionnaire and PSS-NICU questionnaire. Data analysis used t-test. Results: This data analysis using t test on the five variables with the results of Age (p=0.000), Family Income (p=0.000), Family Support (p=0.000), Baby Condition (p=0.000), Birth Weight (p=0.000). With the results of the highest level of stress in the aspect of relationships and the role of parents. Conclusion: There is a relationship between maternal age, family income, family support, baby's condition, baby's birth weight with stress in mothers during baby care in the neonate intensive room. Recommendations for Further Researchers: Suggestions to conduct research on other factors that affect maternal stress such as congenital abnormalities, gender of parents, and length of care.
