Abstract
Background: Hernia is a condition in which the intestine protrudes from the abdominal cavity which can be seen and felt. One of the actions for treating hernias is surgery. After the surgery is complete and the patient begins to realize that the part of the body that has been operated on will feel pain. One of the non-pharmacological therapies is progressive muscle relaxation. This progressive muscle relaxation technique can reduce stress and achieve a state of deep relaxation so that the body will release endorphins which are pain relievers. Objective: To analyze nursing care in post-herniotomy patients with acute pain at Prembun Hospital Method: Using a descriptive method with a case study approach. The case study subjects that will be studied are 5 post-herniotomy. The tools in this study were nursing care formats, Nursing Kits, NRS, and progressive muscle relaxation SOPs. Presentation of data by the author by drawing conclusions based on subjective and objective data, which are presented in the method of documentation and nursing care resumes Results: The results of the study showed that all five patients had the same main complaint of acute pain. The priority nursing diagnosis in Patients I-V is acute pain related to physical injury agents as evidenced in the five patients complaining of pain in the 5-7 range. Nursing interventions and implementations carried out are pain management and progressive muscle relaxation. The results of the nursing evaluation of the five patients showed a decrease in the pain scale after progressive muscle relaxation was performed in patients with acute post-herniotomy pain problems. Patients experience a decrease in pain 2-3 scale. Recommendation: The results of this nursing care can be used as a reference for the preparation of SOPs for non-pharmacological pain management in patients with acute post-herniotomy pain who experience acute pain.
