Abstract
Background: Lack of knowledge of family planning for new acceptors in using implant as the chosen contraceptive the writer interested in applying Focus Group Discussion method. This method is done by collecting qualitative data. It is widely used particularly by decision-makers or researchers. This is because of the relatively cheap and rapid in completion. That method also facilitates decision-makers or researchers in understanding the attitudes, beliefs, expressions and terms that are frequently used by participants of the topic. Therefore, it is useful to understand the reasons unrevealed behind the participants' responses. In this case, it is particularly for the acceptor of implant contraceptive. Purpose: To apply Focus Group Discussion method in choosing contraceptive (implant), to know the decision in choosing contraceptives, to know implant contraceptive participation, and to know the side effects of implant contraceptive. Method: This scientific paper uses qualitative descriptive method through a case study approach. This study was conducted from February to May 2016. The participants in this study are 4 people. The writer describes and illustrates the facts of the assessment obtained through discussions, direct observation, and documentation Result: By knowing Focus Group Discussion method, Mrs.S decided to use implant contraceptive. Installation of the implant was performed on May 1, 2016. After the installation, Mrs. S got pain. Conclusion: Focus Group Discussion method can help Mrs. S feel certain to choose implant as her contraceptive.
