Abstract
Background: Chronic Kidney Disease or CKD is a pathophysiological process with very diverse etiologies, which can result in an irreversible and progressive decline in kidney function. CKD can be treated with pharmacological and non-pharmacological measures. There are various ways to treat non-pharmacological therapy for vomiting in CKD patients, one of which is by steeping peppermint leaves, by utilizing the menthol content and essential oils, complaints of nausea in kidney failure patients will be suppressed because these two things have a carminative effect. General Objectives: To analyze nursing care for Chronic Kidney Disease patients with Nausea's main nursing problems using the method of infusion of peppermint leaves at RSUD Prof. Dr. Margono Soekarjo Purwokerto. Methods: This research used a descriptive case study design, using the intervention of giving steeped peppermint leaves and operational procedures for measuring Nausea vomitus with a nausea and vomiting scale measurement instrument sheet using the Index of Nausea, Vomiting and Retching. The number of samples in this case study was 5 patients diagnosed with CKD. Vomitus nursing problems. Results of Nursing Care: The patient's assessment revealed that the main nursing problem, nausea vomiting, was related to biochemical disorders. The intervention carried out by all patients involved non-pharmacological therapy in the form of steeping peppermint leaves. Evaluation of the five patients showed a decrease in the scale of nausea and vomiting after the peppermint leaf infusion therapy was carried out. The patients said that the intensity and frequency of the nausea and vomiting had reduced and even disappeared. Recommendation: It is recommended for nurses to be able to provide comprehensive nursing care in overcoming nursing problems, especially patient complaints of vomiting. Innovation in nursing intervention with peppermint leaf infusion therapy can later be used as an SOP (Standard Operating Procedure) in dealing with vomitus in CKD patients.
