Abstract
Background: The Indonesian Health Demography Survey shows a decrease in IUD acceptors. This is due to the lack of knowledge about the IUD. Counseling using e-file multimedia is a new innovation which is able to present Birth Control information in the form of moving animation, which can improve the knowledge about Birth Control. In addition, the presence of husband's assistance can also assist the young fertile couple (PUS) in making birth control decision. The writer, therefore, is interested in applying e-file multimedia and mentoring husband in IUD acceptor counseling. Objective: To apply e-file multimedia and mentoring husband in decision-making counseling of new IUD acceptor candidate, to improve the knowledge of acceptor candidate after being given the counseling and the stability of respondent by applying IUD. Methods: This scientific paper is an analytic descriptive, which describe facts obtained through assessment using questionnaires, interviews and documentation. This was conducted from February to June 2017. Result: E-file multimedia and mentoring husband have been applied to 5 participants. There is an increase of knowledge with highest score obtained by Mrs. M and Mr. R. The increase shown by 6 true values (pretest) increasing to 34 true values (postest). Having given care, two participants steadily did IUD insertion, 1 participant chose IUD but not yet ready to install IUD because of the price factor and 2 participants did not choose IUD because of religion factor, parity and fear for using IUD. Conclusion: Counceling with e-file multimedia and mentoring husband can improve the knowledge and stability of respondents with IUD.
