Abstract
Background : Hypertension is a condition where high blood pressure is considered a silent killer because it has no specific symptoms, high blood pressure sufferers who have had it for years will not realize it until their organs are not functioning properly, even to the point of death. Elderly people are more susceptible to high blood pressure because the elasticity of blood vessels begins to decrease, causing the heart to pump blood faster than usual as blood pressure increases. As someone gets older, the possibility of someone suffering from hypertension also increases. Research Objective : To analyze the effect of Asihema therapy in reducing blood pressure in elderly hypertensive patients in Kemangguan village, Alian subdistrict. Research Method : Quasi experimental pre-test post-test control group design with a sample size of 30 respondents. Research Results : The results of the paired sample t-test showed a p-value of 0.001, indicating that there was a significant difference between the average systolic blood pressure of the intervention group after asihema therapy and the control group after being observed in Kemangguan Village, Alian District. The results of the paired sample t-test showed a p-value of 0.000, indicating that there was a significant difference between the average diastolic blood pressure of the intervention group after asihema therapy and the control group after being observed in Kemangguan Village, Alian District. Conclusion : There is an influence between reducing blood pressure by carrying out asihema therapy in the elderly in Kemangguan Village, Alian District. Recommendations for future researchers : It is hoped that we can compare the effectiveness of asihema therapy with other non pharmacological therapies in an effort to reduce blood pressure.
