Abstract
Introduction: The World Health Organization (WHO) reports that globally, Southeast Asia regions had the highest stunting prevalence in 2019, namely 31.9 percent, followed by Africa with 33.1%. The Ministry of Health of the Republic of Indonesia explains that the percentage of malnutrition among children under five in Indonesia reaches 3.8%, while the percentage of malnutrition is 11.4%. Malnutrition influences growth, brain development, susceptibility to disease and infection, and others. The high prevalence of stunting can be lowered by fulfilling the nutritional needs of pregnant women, practicing exclusive breastfeeding, and providing supplementary foods. Baby massage is one of the complementary therapies to help babies gain weight. Objective: To identify the influence of baby massage on baby weight gain. Method: This study used a quasi-experimental method where the researcher carried out intervention/treatment on the subject. This involved 40 babies aged 3- 12 months as respondents. The selection of the sample used a purposive sampling technique. Data analysis used bivariate analysis with a Paired t-test with. Results: The results of the study showed the average weight gain of 7.33 after the intervention of baby massage. The p-value was 0.000 < 0.05. Thus, H0 is rejected and Ha is accepted. It can be said that baby massage influences baby weight gain at Restu Bunda clinic. Conclusion: Baby massage influences baby weight gain at Restu Bunda clinic.
